Role of Training and Development of Human Resources in Achieving Sustainable Development

Abstract

Sustainable development is a national concern that requires the contribution of all relevant sectors to achieve its goals, ensuring citizens’ well-being, the sustainability of resources for future generations, and the growth of the national economy. This paper aims to present the concept of sustainable development, identify its indicators, clarify the role of training and human resource development in achieving its objectives, and introduce human resource management along with modern training concepts. The study adopted an inductive approach through a review of literature and related studies. Findings revealed that human beings are the cornerstone of sustainable development, as they are both its means and ultimate goal. Human capital formation is the essential foundation for development and progress, while material capital serves as a complementary factor. The results further highlighted that training is one of the most significant factors contributing to the enhancement of human resource efficiency, establishing a strong and direct relationship between training and development of human resources and the achievement of sustainable development. The study recommends that development strategies prioritize investment in human capital through effective human resource management, with a focus on comprehensive training and development programs, making the human element a central priority for organizations seeking growth and sustainable development.
