The Strategy of the Libyan Center for Archives and Historical Studies in Preserving the Libyan Intangible Cultural Heritage: Oral Narrative as a Model

Abstract

 Cultural heritage plays an important role in giving the individual and society its identity and the characteristics of its national personality. It also gives it a historical depth that keeps it from fading or dissolving into new or invading identities. Hence the importance of this research lies in shedding light on the strategy of the Libyan Center for Archives and Historical Studies in preserving the Libyan intangible cultural heritage. This is done by taking the oral narrative as a model. The research focused on the efforts of this scientific research institution that embraces the history and memory of Libyan society, with the aim of identifying its plans to collect and preserve Providing oral narratives related to the details of all aspects of Libyan society's life, especially during the period of the Italian occupation and beyond. The research concluded with several results. It served as an indicator of the extent of the effectiveness of the Libyan Archives Center in performing the scientific and societal role assigned to it.
